Quick and effective weight loss can be brought about by fasting. It requires a lot of patience and persistence to get through. It is common to find people who go into a fast lose as much as 10 to 15 pounds in a matter of 3 or 4 days. In fact, if they do not lose weight, it only means that the body is not being detoxified.

The intestines which are the largest organ of absorption can at times get accumulated with many layers of decayed food matter which can also turn into a breeding ground of a lot of parasites and bacteria. This can lead to improper digestion and absorption of nutrients from the food matter. The fats that do not get digested properly could get accumulated in various parts of the body leading to sagging flesh.

During a fast, the diet would normally consist of plenty of quantity of fresh fruits and green leafy vegetables. Sometimes, the diet would just contain fruits and nothing else. A suitable fruit diet or a combination of fruit/vegetable diet could be followed. Meat could be avoided for best results during the period of fasting. Drink lots and lots of water during this period to aid the detoxification. You might find yourself visiting the toilet more often than usual during fasting. It is just normal as the body is flushing itself out of the accumulated toxins.

 After the period of a fasting diet, it is normal to experience a strong urge to grab and eat anything that comes in view. This urge should be resisted and regular foods should be taken gradually thus allowing the system to get back to its proper functioning ways.

 This method, not only reduces the weight, but improves the body functioning by eliminating the toxins. The skin gets clear and complexion improves. Problems like acne and pimples on the face also receive an instant cure as a result of this fast.
